"Esau was Jacob's brother," the Lord explains, "yet I chose Jacob."

Jacob. The second born-inferior from the very beginning, unable to receive the blessing of the firstborn. Yet he was blessed as firstborn.

Jacob. The one whose name was given to him due to his persistence to gain his brother's birthright. And he did win it over Esau. With a bowl of red-bean soup.

Now, how does this affect us all? We all have, in our lives, an "Esau". He represents one who lives skillfully, successfully. And we all grow jealous.

Yet, there are two reactions. The first, their jealously kills their spirit. Their fire no longer burns, and in their heart, a statement lives.

"How can I ever beat this man?'

Yet the other lets their jealously encourage them. They say and declare Psalm 61:2.

From the most remote place on earth I call out to you in my despair. Lead me up to an inaccessible rocky summit!

Which one are you?Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-52938486606690280672014-06-26T02:30:00.001-07:002014-06-26T02:30:41.237-07:00Deductive Fallacy: Explanation We usually presume life as linear. A happens because of B, B happens because of C. This leads us to conclude that because C happens, A must happen. This is not always the case.

Suppose that you have just lost your job. Maybe it is because of that lazy yet unforgiving manager that does nothing behind the door. This manager, you assume, hates you. He gives you tasks that are always tiring, never giving you rest. And after all that, he fires you!

You come home, head down, eyes tearing up and fists clenched. You are mad, really mad. After day after day of hardwork, this is how you are treated? Your rage gets worse, and your mind is blurred. You blurt out curses, deciding that you now hate the world.

This temper never leaves you, and in your new, more awesome job, your anger prevents you from working as hard as you did with your previous awful manager. Lesson learnt, you said, and your mind is set on this is statement:

"The last time I worked hard, I got fired. Why work hard this time?"

Maybe it is true that manager despises you. But look at fate: you got a new, much better job because of him firing you! But anger and hate still linger, stopping you from doing you absolute best. Why?

When your mind settles on an opinion, usually, it is very hard to rid of that opinion. Our minds are set to analyse the facts, and piece them together to form a statement. This is called deductive fallacy.

The facts may be true, but the conclusion, and the resulting action, is false.

It's just white, nothing is on it. Then place a small, black dot in the center. The black dot represents a misfit, a mistake of some sort. We don't need to focus on this black dot. Yet on the white canvas, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Now, imagine a scenario, where a man is praised for his purity, how 'white his heart is'. A crowd surrounds him, just wondering, who is that? Out of the blue a man points out, "Hey, I know him! He borrowed some sugar from me and never returned it!"
Suddenly people start to question. In their realization, they hissed at him, cursing him. But the man really did nothing wrong, he was given the sugar.
I've observed many people crushed by lies, and many more that believed those lies. A whole train begins to form, and the victim is left hopeless, depressed even. Even if they are not lies, I've seen people getting harassed for the wrong he did in the past.

Are we in that train?Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-41604339647445420212013-10-25T03:42:00.000-07:002013-10-25T03:42:10.596-07:00To wisdom I fear,
To reasoning I do not hear.
Oh this flesh of mine,
Why destroy The Lord's shrine?Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-9207693457625073892013-08-27T01:28:00.000-07:002013-08-27T01:28:11.264-07:00Extinguish But, somehow, that fire slowly died. It burned away, the wood turned to ash. I started to walk backwards, and started to blame the innocent God for all my troubles.

But how?

I don't know at all. It sneaked off my heart like a small ant. I didn't notice it, nor did I care. My pursuits became empty, I was completely hollow inside. Again. Slowly, I transformed to a slightly better version of myself.

I know for a fact, that The Lord's influence never leaves a man, but The Lord himself will, eventually. He doesn't push you at all, and doesn't punish you. But when you return to his hands, he will gladly accept you.

One night, while I was playing my butt off, I had these few words in my heart:

You said you wanted to change the world.

I stopped. I stared at the screen. The world just paused for a while. Then there's a second voice.

But changing the world isn't possible! Your only a child!

The words of God and the devil was certainly different. One was hard, but gentle. The other was demanding and tempting. I knew what to do.

I stopped, and prayed. I didn't like it, but I did, anyways. Why? I don't know. I just did.

And so spawned these three stories. I hope you don't have to learn it the way I did.

Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-11156218567118606632013-08-26T01:46:00.001-07:002013-08-26T01:46:09.917-07:00Ignition I was a very horrible child. Innocent on the outside, yet pure burning evil inside. My heart was filled with arrogance and envy; my very soul desired evil. Yes, I experience many bad days. I shrugged off my sins, and hope what the evil hopes:

The wicked man is so arrogant he always thinks, "God won't hold me accountable; he doesn't care." -Psalms 10:4

But it started to change when I began to enroll in a youth study. To be frank, I wasn't too excited when I first heard I was going to attend it, and I still feel words that say, "Wouldn't laying in bed be a much relaxing thing to do? Wouldn't you want to entertain yourself more? You're already so tired, come!"

I am glad I joined.

I remember my first days there, ah the sounds of the instruments and the loud voice of the praises, accompanied by the graceful dancers in blue.

It touched my heart. It felt as if God wanted me. I felt different.

I changed ever since. I tried my very best to do everything I was thought, and I was thought more. Little by little I grew fond of praising God, it gave me a pleasant, warm feeling of His mighty presence. I imagined the Angels of God swooping down and playing their own instruments, and singing along with us listeners, as if we were a joyous choir in perfect harmony.

A lesson I value was the understanding of this 'fire'. It was so cool, and so revealing. I had to feed it, I have to warm it. I have to train my spirit to embrace this, and to keep it safe.

That's only the first part.

I began to have a daily plan for reading the bible. I stumbled across this very verse:

The Lord opened the servant's eyes and he saw that the hill was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. - 2 kings 6:15-17

"Wow!" I thought. Fire chariots and horses? You can call them? You have the access to a whole army, to fight your enemies? You have a God that listens and responds!

This understanding got even deeper when I attended a church. The topic was the Fire Jesus sent to the world. It was not a fire that devours, but the fire of the Holy Spirit.

An army of fire from the Holy Spirit, that does not destroy but forgives and teaches? Horses that do not trample but comfort? I

Fire chariots that doesn't destroy enemies, but heals them from their evil ways and opens them to a whole new world filled with light and joy. Wow.

"Something Sam. Something. You said you wanted your fire to keep burning", The Lord whispered in my heart. It hit me quite hard, hearing those words.

Fire? What fire?

No, it is not the fire you see above a candle, nor the destructive element of nature that devours, and emits large amounts of heat. Not that. Those are far less superior than the fire The Lord asked me to keep burning.
It is the fire of your heart. The passion and love to The Lord God our Maker. The very 'thing' that keeps you going "wow!" every time you go out and meet Him. The fuel of our praises. The heat that warms our cold heart. That fire.

And I have lost it.

I promised to keep it burning, to feed it wood that will be everlasting. To care and nourish that fire so that it will never extinguish.

And I failed.

The wood has turned to ash, and only very little was left of it. But even very little was enough, and The Lord reminded me to keep it burning.

How did I know of the fire? I'll continue, tomorrow.
Here is its definition of the word:

Shibboleth

a peculiarity of pronunciation, behavior, mode of dress, etc., that distinguishes a particular class or set of persons.

It's a great word. The difference of quality that seperates a group from another, we see this daily in our lives.
The origins of this word is from the Hebrew word of the same spelling, found in judges 12:4-6. It is the word the Gileadites (under the command of Jepththah) used to differentiate the Ephraimites, and prevent them from crossing the Jordan river. It acted as a password, since the Ephraimites could not pronounce it. That day 42000 Ephraimites died. Put to contrast, the 9/11 incident totaled to a death toll of 3,000 souls.

Though tragic and gruesome it had a different meaning for me. What is our "shibboleth"? What differentiates us from the rest of the world? The factor in every single one of us that truly makes every being unique?

To start, the difference between us and animals is their lack of soul. They have flesh and thought, but they do not have soul, or conscious, as others would say. The properties of having moral thoughts, the thoughts of humanity, and of course the deep thoughts we humans are capable of achieving.

Progressing forward, what differentiates the different cultures of human kind? Different qualities of each race, such as skin color and hair color? The differnt fashion styles and food? The shape of the land and the different beliefs and traditions? Yes. Every single difference counts toward our uniqueness.

Then there is Catholicism. Argueably the biggest religion thus far, with over a billion followers. What differenciates us from the rest? Nothing, except for the mustard seed of faith each Christian and Catholic holds in our hearts. The strong fire of passion for The Lord.

Finally there's you. A man of his own unique quality. Many think power and popularity is what differentiates human kind, whether for good or for bad. Yet we forget, the spirit that lies within us, that burns at a different temperature from everyone else. The soul that defines who we are, the different emotions that each of us hold dear.

What is the conclusion to all this? The "shibboleth" of every single of us, the different password that defines who you are. You are special, we all are.

Yes. I have not posted in this blog for quite a long time. Things change, and so do I. As time progresses, so do I. Below was when I was a mere child, rewriting back what I was thought. Now that I am beyond that stage, and that now I have the ability to think more deeply, I hope I can create content that is both original, new, and suprising.

Following advice I decided to come back to this blog, reskin it and hopefully write more then what I did when I was younger.

Many of my posts will be of religious terms.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-37208586098571803082012-12-05T06:28:00.001-08:002012-12-05T06:28:32.340-08:00Thoughts on lending money Many people like to borrow money. Little that they know that they have fallen into a great hole of misery and doom. Yes, though it brings small joys at first, a long path if misery is knocking on their front door. They are trapped in their own promise, and some smart people will take advantage of this, and without mercy, will try their best to rip apart their borrower' life just because of his broken promise.
Money is the root of evil, wise people say. The worst is lending. The devil uses it often, corroding away the pureness of hearts. Why? Because it is effective! The human heart does not like waiting, patience is an easy thing to learn, but difficult to master. Only the wise can see through this deception.
We three shock in horror in fear. We even forgot our initial mission. I was scared to the tip. Where is he? We franticly turn our heads, searching for him, trying to know where he is. Jonathan squealed, then disappeared. He is behind us! We ran as if this a game of cat and mouse, we are powerless against him. My partner kept praying. His name is Drake Hims, a friend I had ever since I crashed landed. Heck, he the one who found me! Oh no! He is right in front of us! I can see him, and I want to run away, but I cannot... My mind went into his eyes, as if some hypnotizing force paralyze my mind...
Just as I have finished my prayer, my recruiter Peter, a once highly respected pilot commander, is now facing him. The man with no face, death himself visited. His eyes stuck on him,and his slowly dissolved to mere dust, and vanished within the man's suit. Then he looked at me. I closed my eyes and ran away. I realized a terrifying truth, he turns his victims to mindless creatures, and seeps their living soul as nourishment. He is a shark, hunting, which can smell blood from a very long distance. And a hungry shark to. He ate the souls of five in a mere hour, his ability surpasses any supernatural.
My flashlight was dimming, I can barely see the woods in front of me. Sooner or later, I thought, I would be greeted by him. I prayed to my God to deliver me from this vile place. It seems impossible. But my Lord guided me to safety. The villagers, shocked and delighted to see me, hugged me. They had no intention to ask me where the rest were, they knew from my gloomy face they had been taken. They simply said "I'm sorry.", cried and weeped for a while, and walked back home. I followed them. After tonight, I don't think I want to have another adventure. But my son will. A horrible one.

As the night falls, armed only with my conscious, I began to sleep. As I closed my eyes, images of him flashed. I woke up on horror. I must be insane, I began. That man is no more than my imagination. There is no way he is real. My eye started to shut, and soon I found myself deep in slumber. Then he appeared again. Once again I woke up in pure shock and horror. There is no denying it now. He is here, my nightmares, my death.
All my courage is now drained to emptiness. I shrugged with fear. I saw a fire torch nearby. I ran towards the light, pure instinct for survival. The natives were at first hunting, but as soon as they saw me, they ran back to their villages, hoping of my safety. They were curios, how did I survive two hours on the woods? They explained, in perfect detail, the myths and storied behind the forrest. Myths of vanishing children as they played in the woods. They saw his face for a glimpse, a face of pure white and plain horror. A face with no features, or any specific detail. A long, slender body with 8 mystifying tentacles. They also described his polite suit. Deceiving suit and a tie. Faceless. Tentacles. Slender. He matches my nightmares.
I soon decided to stay at the Caribbean, and soon retired early, leaving myself a great reputation. I got married and had children. I forgot everything about him. Then news came that my youngest and only son disappeared, vanished from thin air. I inquired in great fury and desperateness where he was last seen. In the woods. The forrest of my crash. I stepped back, terrified of what he did my son.
The neighbors recommend I forget him, it is too dangerous to travel alone on that woods. He cannot be stopped, they say. Hah! See if I care! I will do anything for my son!
I prepared a backpack stuffed with food and drinking water, and a portable tank. I started looking for people who wanted to accompany me. Only 5 applied. My neighbors said that this expedition is not hard. It is impossible. They blessed us with luck, and off we go in our small blue truck.
The road disappeared in a while. The engine stalled, and we are forced to go by foot. I flashed my torchlight, and so did my five trusty companions. But when I saw the shines of the torches, I noticed something wrong. There are only four spots of light behind me. The fifth was gone. His best friend seemed worried, and started to weep. We all did, and just prayed. Followed by a huge scream.
Jonathan saw him. The man, he saw him! "Behind the trees.", he said. The others checked, he wasn't there. We thought he was insane, then when we faced forwards, 25 feet away, the man stood there. We ran like hell, his omnipresence constantly haunting us with his heavy footsteps. Just as we thought we were safe, person 3 was gone. And so was my fourth partner. 3 people vanished, or dead, in a matter of few minutes. How can the rest of us survive? How can we manage?

Do you like it? Any suggestions? Ideas? I'm open minded!
Some will care, some will don't. That used to be the formula on the 90's. But this is the 21st century. The age of technology. Now a days kids just don't care anymore. They keep on playing games and wasting their time, not equaling their consuming with producing. Should this continue, there will be less productive ones, and soon everyone will be too lazy, slaving away at their screen. I pray this does not happen. We still have a chance.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-30870419583545508282012-11-27T07:39:00.000-08:002012-11-27T07:39:16.041-08:00I'm Back! Hello. I haven't been writing in a while. I'll continue writing my thoughts starting next week. I will also write my own stories on evanandsamstories.blogspot.com
Check it out! Be patient, I'll come up with great stuff.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-57946316545222081392012-02-08T05:42:00.000-08:002012-02-08T05:42:19.820-08:00Think differentI had just finished the biography of steve jobs, and it was full of inspiration, mand a sense of awe. His method of work is motly unaccepted by many, his closed procedure, but with his special abilitiy the 'reality distortion field', a blinkless stare, which can cause even the most doubtful person achieve the impossible. He used this special ability to create the macintosh, pixar, imac, the ipod, the iphone, many more generations that was deemed impossible. Even the device i am using right now, was part of his ingenious ideas, an answer to microsoft's predicted tablet with a stylus. His temper is insane, if you have no tolerence to anger whatsoever, you will leave the room in within a minute. There are only two things that Steve jobs use to describe objects, either its fantastic or its shi*. The annoying part, which most people cannot handle is the fact that if he dismissed your idea as crap, then two weeks later he would appear and say,"hey i have an idea" and it was all yours. Staff that can cooperate with this kind of temper always act if they are his ideas. He fired people who can't reach his standards. His approach is seeing his staff as a football team. You have A players, B players and C players. Steve only accepts A players, in fact, after he went back in to apple, he fired most of the company. One thing that really was stuck in my mind was, when the staff were discussing the new product, then suddenly Steve jobs just stood up, and asked,"Why is apple down right now?" a few answers are given, then he shouted," because it SUCKS!!!" that silenced the entire staff. He drew a chart on the white board, with four squares on it, forming a larger square. Then he wrote four main personalities of a what a computer should be, and said, "Focus on these four, cancel he rest!" It took apple very high. We must all use what he has done to the universe, creating a giant ripple in the universe.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-12063436376819538342011-12-18T08:27:00.000-08:002011-12-18T08:27:00.482-08:00Merry christmas! And have a happy new year! Guess what christmas celebration needs. Friends. We need friends. For daily activities, to work. To entertainment, to business. True friends help your needs, and is your walking companion. If you have troubles, he will help. If you have sorrow, he will cheer you up. Imagine the world if everyone is enemies, war, no peace. Friends make this not happen. With friends, you experience peace. Although, choose friends wisely. It may be that your "friend" only wants your money, or means harm to you. Bad friends cause bad influences, good friends cause good influences. I works vice versa, be a nice person, don't be a jerk.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-61906147306699429682011-12-18T08:21:00.000-08:002011-12-18T08:21:10.536-08:00S.E.ES.E.E
S search. Search for everything you need, and want. Searching helps, i swear. SEARCH. SEARCH. search for friends, search for success, search for health, search for wealth, search for God.
E explore. Explore the world, to understand things. Explore the internet, its huge. Explore your school, you might find something interesting. Explore your office, search for anything new, or ask . Explore the world.
E experience. The reward for search and exploration. It helps in any situation, good or bad. Don't always stick to experience, try to S.E.E more.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-4690328207574390912011-12-18T04:35:00.000-08:002011-12-18T04:35:49.314-08:00The 3GS3Gs- guts, grace, glory. This is the foundation for a working company. Guts- take the risk, don't doubt. Success will come if it is logical, and achieveable. Set the standard high, higher than expected. Grace- put elegenxe in your work, make it as beautiful as its function. People will buy for grace, and keep buying for performance. After all this, comes glory. The prize we get for guts and grace. Everything we get, or any kind of profit, is our glory. 3Gs- live with it, succeed.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-37635237313136408982011-10-15T07:41:00.000-07:002011-10-15T07:41:55.747-07:00CommunicationCommunication- a part of life, nothing can co-operate if no communication is avaiable. Simple, yes, but neccesary. People always forget communicate, team work, is what makes us a succesful person. We don't remeber this action, they always wonder, why do I not succeed? I used all the laws, i self talked, i believe, why, just WHY do i didn't make it? It is possible this man lacked communication, much like a man who closed their eyes. He has legs, arms, but doesn't open his eyes, how will he reach the destination? Even a blind man can communicate, why can't we communicate with others. Ask, knock, and you shall recieve. Don't forget these words, they'll come in handy.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-56051140606862161302011-10-01T22:45:00.000-07:002011-10-01T22:53:03.206-07:00Self controlSelf control- everyone wants and needs this. Its a gift of God, he gave us our OWN free will to love or hate him. If he was to contol us, our love will not be real, as it was him who commands us. We need self control at all times, no matter the situation. At a fight, self control determinds who shall win, we can't go punching people at the face for no good reason. Self control avoids unneccesary fights. Self control brings peace, balance to our lives. Imagine the world with no self control, it will be chaos. Think about it.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-9536196115329470412011-10-01T09:17:00.000-07:002011-10-01T22:51:06.101-07:00a little about myselfHahh... Time to talk about my favorite hobby-beyblade!(ベイブレード beiburedo) this toy is based on the original japanese top Beigoma. Beyblading is a strategic game, where everything about it matters, the combination, the launch technique, and so on. Their's science involved in this, fly wheel, centrigufal force, centre of gravity, weight distribution, etc. Every single one has a different design, and in total 1,156,897 and still growing different combos. And only 100 are good. Though, it has some side effects, such as my PKN studies are lowering. So yah, just play it normally and you'll be fine. + it made me kinda popular in puri mall as a frequent arriver. (i meet up with my friends every saturday night 7:00-10:00)Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-41737340177533204622011-10-01T08:56:00.000-07:002011-10-01T22:47:19.685-07:00The balanceToo much of something is bad, too little of something is just as bad. Everything that we do must be balanced, playing and studying, working and relaxing. We must balance our emotions as well, hatred and care, sadness and happiness. The mind is the first priority to balance out, too much emotions will make us a crybaby( which i used to be), too much pysical action will make us a bully. We must be calm at times, but if we do this too long, we will be weak, and allow ourselfes to be harmed. Too much reaction, get ready for a fight. We must always apply this to every single subject, launguage, for example. If we frequetly use english, our bahasa is bad, if we use bahasa, guess what? Youre smart enough to figure it out. Once the balance is perfect, our lives shall be perfect. (this is unachievable because of the influence of the devil)Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-68993779652728386082011-09-23T21:25:00.000-07:002011-10-01T09:27:50.120-07:00Pursue your dreamsPursueing your dreams-something that everyone wants to accomplish. The world is full of dreams, my dreams, your dreams. No one's dream is perfectly similar, its all different. Everyone has a dream of their own, don't think that someone will help you chase your dreams for nothing. A sacrifice requires a price to pay, nothing is free in this world. Imagining it, specifically, will help the unconsious slowly doing what you dream of, from having a car to going to outer space. The more you dream about, the harder you will work for it. The dream has to be specific, though. You dream about driving a car, then in reality, you're off driving a car in a machine. You have to feel owning it, being proud accomplishing the dream. Dreams are impossible to catch, its just really slow to progress. If i dream winning a soccer certificate since young, i won't a superstar the next day. I'll have to work hard, takimg months, years, decades before it will be accomplished. Just remember this: everyone only has one life, live it joyfully.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6417521931590331004.post-1054136601673067522011-08-26T05:22:00.000-07:002011-08-26T05:22:01.843-07:00Going on in life The past is something we all in one point dislike. Death, loss, regret, anything. One word. Go on. Forget the past, this is the present. It doesn't matter what happened then, it matters what happenes NOW. Get used to it, the world will be even more painfull then what it seems like. Thinking and rewinding all events is negative for the mind to function. Sorrowfull events bring a sad, upset, regretfull, thus in reality we are not focused. Positive events bring errogance, egotism, corrupting the mind in thinking that you are the best. The only good the past can bring is in learning, and to help encourage others. The world is going on quickly, but it doesn't matter, are YOU going on is the true question. Sitting there blank, thinking of the past makes almost any kind of focus hard. Upgrades in learning style, resetting schedule, endure the painfull world, getting used to the enviroment around, these are all ways to go on. Do it.Samuel Vedrik http://www.blogger.com/profile/10690741833633796916noreply@blogger.com2
